Everyone, it's been a while.

This time, we've launched "Web-DOG (Web Digital Open Group)," a group in which local companies in each region hold competitions and local students carry out actual site production, aiming to solve regional challenges!

Web Digital Open Group (Web-DOG) is a group for developing the ability of local students to tackle and solve the various challenges of each region, and for advancing regional digital transformation (DX) through industry-academia collaboration.

To solve the challenge of rebuilding and renewing recognition of a brand meant to last the next 100 years for "Azumine Shuzoten," a long-established sake brewery with 340 years of history in Iwate Prefecture, students from the local Morioka Information Business & Design College gave presentations.

  • Competition date: Wednesday, July 9, 2020
  • Venue: As a COVID-19 measure, held online connecting Iwate and Tokyo.
  • Client|Azumine Shuzoten: Azumine Shuzoten was founded in the mid-Edo period, in the first year of Tenmei (1781), as "Shiwa Shuzoten." Its predecessor was "Gonbei Sakaya," which in the Enpo era (1670s) made Iwate's first Kamigata-style "clear sake" — the existence of this brewery later led to the birth of the Nanbu Toji (master brewers).
  • Participating school|Morioka Information Business & Design College: A part of the Ryutaku Gakukan educational corporation, MCL Vocational School Group. [Recruiting Supporters for the Next Student Competition!]

■ Corporate supporters: We're looking for companies who share the aim of this project and would hold a competition for local students. Support costs vary depending on the content of the competition challenge, so please get in touch first.

■ School supporters: We're looking for schools and organizations who can help by announcing to students and serving as judges when a competition is held. There are no particular support costs, but we ask for follow-up with students who took part in the competition.

■ Management supporters: We're looking for people who can support the running of the Web-DOG Executive Committee. There's work across many areas — site operation, mentoring students, supporting competitions in each region, and more — so regardless of your specialty, please feel free to get in touch.
