Hello, everyone!

Today's Friday — TGIF, "Thank God It's Friday"!

2020 is already half over, and normally on Premium Friday I'd go to a drinking party, but in times like these you lose the mood to drink, don't you.

Online drinking parties were briefly popular too — has that boom already ended?

As PR, I used to attend offline events, but now most events have moved online.

So today I'd like to introduce those events, and the online events our company runs, all together.

Megane-san to. (formerly Megane Fes)

This event was held offline back then.

I took part in the lightning-talk contest too.

The irony is that my topic at the time was about the situation of Chinese people suffering from corona: "Enjoying a Dull Lockdown Life with 7 Killer Life Hacks."

Who'd have thought that a month later… people living in Japan would enter this new lifestyle too? …Well, maybe it was predictable.

Seeing young people leave Tokyo and return to their hometowns because of corona reminds me of the story, told in that session, of the married couple who moved to Ogijima.

Backlog World 2020 re:Union #JBUG

https://jbug.info/backlogworld2020/

This event had always been held offline, but because of corona it was suddenly moved online. I was amazed that a nearly 6-hour live stream went smoothly, thanks to the cooperation of a group called Tenjin Broadcasting Station that does "live streaming" and "streaming on your behalf."

I watch game commentary and such originally, but this is completely different from that kind of big event. It struck me as wonderful that even connecting with people in different places, you can do it all perfectly as long as you have the internet.

Online Share Office

https://onlineshareoffice.tentus.jp/

This is a service our company released in the early days of corona.

It's a space for teleworkers who feel anxious or lonely because of corona, and for teleworkers who want to connect with other people they don't know.

The mechanism is extremely simple: turning ZOOM into a virtual office.

Thinking it might also serve as promotion for ourselves, in the first month we held things like an online English meetup, casual online drinks, and Netflix Party — but I learned that the response only happens within your circle of acquaintances.

Online Share Office is still up and running, so if you're interested, by all means give us a shout.

New-Style PR

Beyond that, each company's promotional events are also mostly held online these days.

There's Remo for networking parties.

You can even turn web meetings into quiz-show-style entertainment.

Maybe proper online karaoke will become possible going forward too. For kids 10 years from now, online will probably feel more familiar than offline.

As PR in the web industry, I think we have to study joining and planning the new-style events born out of the new way of living.

Our company runs a project called Web-DOG, where local students solve the challenges of regional companies, and we hold all the competitions online.

How to carry out a competition perfectly in an online format, and how to promote this project online, are challenges too — but I'd love for everyone to watch over us warmly!
